Welcome back for another blog about All Things Food on Chincoteague Island, VA. Well we are officially in our busy season and the island has come back to life with visitors, tourists and locals headed out to eat some of the best food ever on our beautiful island paradise.  Chincoteague has so many options for food but this week's post is one that is near and dear to my heart. When my friend Carmen and I started becoming regular visitors for the day in 2015 this food truck, now takeout restaurant was our go to, because from the first bite we fell in love. Our day trips to Chincoteague consisted of all day at the beach, early dinner at Pico Taqueria (to beat the dinner rush) and Island Creamery ice cream as we watched the sunset from Don Leonard Park and then it was back home to Seaford, DE until the next trip (usually the following week or two). This was our routine every trip without fail.  Pico Taqueria opened in the spring of 2015 as a food truck on Maddox Blvd and their populari

Welcome back for the latest blog for All Things Food on Chincoteague Island, VA. I can't thank you enough for helping me make this blog a dream come true and a fun place to learn more about the food available in the area. This post is taking us a little of the island to a sweet little gem with some of  the best coffee. Slack Tide Coffee Co. is located in Wattsville just off of Chincoteague Rd. This cute little blue building will serve you up some of the tastiest beverages you will ever drink. I am not a coffee drinker (sorry don't hate me) but I love a good tea and the iced spicy chai tea lattes that I have gotten from Slack Tide have been off the charts delicious.  No matter what you are craving the large selection of hot and cold drinks will be sure to satisfy your taste buds, but leaving you wanting more. Hot and iced coffees, teas, smoothies, frozen coffee, Italian sodas and Red Bull sodas are some of their tasty drinks. Kaitlan Woods has taken this business and through a l

Hello and welcome back for another blog about All Things Food on Chincoteague Island, VA. I am so glad everyone is reading and enjoying this blog. Going out in town and having people come up to me and tell me how much they are enjoying learning about the food and restaurants in depth is awesome. As I told someone, I am just a fat girl who loves food and sharing it is always fun. This week I am highlighting a special little food truck that will make you wonder if you are in Chincoteague, VA or a beautiful beach town in Mexico. I am talking about our very own Lily's Little Mexico . Lily's is a true authentic Mexican cuisine food truck. Lily and her staff are so sweet and always welcoming. Lily's has been a part of Chincoteague and a huge hit for several years now and is loved by visitors and locals alike.  All the food is made to order with the freshest ingredients, freshly made and the right amount of seasoning to make your mouth want more. No matter if you want tacos, quesa

Manna Café CI

Welcome back to another blog about All Things Food on Chincoteague Island, VA. I am trying to get this out twice a week, but somehow this week was gone before I even realized it. I hope everyone is enjoying this blog so far and I am always open for comments or suggestions on where you would like to know about next. I am having a blast going around and eating everywhere and getting to know the owners, managers and staff more at each place.  This spotlight is on The Manna Café CI. The Manna Café is a non profit that was created by Bill & Fran Lytle. Bill & Fran saw a need here on Chincoteague and stepped up to fill that need and they have done an amazing job. Bill, Fran and their amazing team of volunteers serve a free hot lunch (donations accepted) every Monday at Christ United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Along with the dine in, they also deliver about 90 shut ins a hot lunch. The food is prepared that morning and a team will take the meals to the shut ins. In the hall the

Chincoteague Chamber of Commerce Seafood Festival

Happy Monday to everyone and I do believe I see some sunshine out there today, which is something that we certainly didn't have for the Seafood Festival, but what a great festival.  The Long Time No Sea Seafood Festival  was held on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at Tom's Cove Campground and I am so glad that I got to attend. I have always worked weekends, and still do, so I have never been able to attend this event in the past. Of course the past two years it has been cancelled because of the pandemic, so it was great to see everyone out and about attending this event. This event is held rain or shine and looking last week at the weather, I was very nervous. I know there were lots of prayers for the rains and the winds to hold off, and thankfully they did. I wasn't able to stay for the entire event, but I heard that as the last song was finished by the band, the winds started blowing and the rain started coming down. Being a brand new attendee there were things that I was absolutel
