Pico Taqueria

Welcome back for another blog about All Things Food on Chincoteague Island, VA. Well we are officially in our busy season and the island has come back to life with visitors, tourists and locals headed out to eat some of the best food ever on our beautiful island paradise.

Chincoteague has so many options for food but this week's post is one that is near and dear to my heart. When my friend Carmen and I started becoming regular visitors for the day in 2015 this food truck, now takeout restaurant was our go to, because from the first bite we fell in love. Our day trips to Chincoteague consisted of all day at the beach, early dinner at Pico Taqueria (to beat the dinner rush) and Island Creamery ice cream as we watched the sunset from Don Leonard Park and then it was back home to Seaford, DE until the next trip (usually the following week or two). This was our routine every trip without fail.

Pico Taqueria opened in the spring of 2015 as a food truck on Maddox Blvd and their popularity grew in leaps and bounds and in 2019 they moved to their current location on Maddox Blvd. This bigger location has allowed them to grow even more and add an enclosed screen house in case you want to stay and eat there. They also have added a beachy feeling bar area where your amazing bartender will ask you the question of the day and serve you some of the best drinks on the island.

Rosie, Kate, Dylan and Nate and their team of employees have built an amazing business and only use the freshest ingredients for their menu items. Their corn and flour tortilla shells are all homemade right there. Their salsa and guacamole are the best that I have ever had. I can eat their guacamole every day for the rest of my life and never get tired of it, it is that good. Their Eastern Shore Street Corn is always sweet, tender and delicious with the perfect amount of cheese and Old Bay. Their tacos are layered with flavors that will make your taste buds sing. One of my favorite things about Pico is that if you are on a diet, like I always seem to be, you can take their tacos and make it into the best chopped salad that will leave you feeling full and very satisfied.

Their bar area is a great way to experience their rotating menu and some of the best tequila cocktails and daily drink specials made by everyone's favorite bartender Chris. This is the perfect place to sit back relax, enjoy a nice cocktail and eat some fantastic food.

I can go on and on about Pico, like I said earlier this restaurant is very near and dear to my heart because of my past experiences here and the amazing food that I have always received from them, but let's get to the questions. They are open usually from mid April to mid October. They are open from 11am to 8pm Thursday thru Monday. Rosie was awesome in helping me answer these questions in detail and I learned even more from her about their menu items.

What is my favorite dish on their menu? I absolutely without a doubt love their Main Street taco as a taco or on their chopped salad. their Eastern Shore Street Corn and their Chips with Guacamole.

This is a must stop and enjoy restaurant and one of my favorites. You will not be disappointed. And no you are not seeing double when you see Nate and Dylan, they are identical twins and one day I will be able to tell them apart when they aren't with their wives.....lol. Both families have added to their families including another set of twins. Wishing the Moot family a very successful season this summer.
