Hello Foodies, Sorry I go so busy once again and I am forgetting to share things here with you that I am sharing on Facebook. I will get that fixed here very soon. The biggest thing I do want to share and hope you can help us with is, the Beebe Farm, where Misty was raised is going up for sale and the Beebe Family has been given first dibs to the Museum of Chincoteague. The cost is $625,000 and needs to be raised pretty fast. I am sharing the link to the interview I did with Cindy Faith and if you are able to help, please do. This is a piece of Chincoteague's history that we can't lose. https://youtu.be/dLAvCFNvTwI

2023 Pony Plunge

Image
New Year's Day on Chincoteague is the day for the annual Pony Plunge into the Atlantic Ocean from Assateague. The crowds started to gather in their best costumes and got themselves registered for the plunge. As the time got closer the crowds grew and the excitement could be felt in the air. It was my first Pony Plunge and even though I wasn't plunging myself, where I placed myself to video the plungers running for the ocean, got me plunged. I got went up to about mid shin. The first wave was cold, but after that it wasn't that bad. The outside temperatures were in the 60s, the sun was shining and it was a beautiful blue sky day.  The time for the plunge was 1:23pm, signifying January 23. As the countdown started the crowds were in position to take off and watching everyone's reaction as they hit that water was so cool. Some people just went in and others dove into that cold water. All coming out with huge smiles on their faces.  I am sharing the video that I shared on

Chincoteague Island House of Jerky

Image
Did you know that Chincoteague is host to the only House of Jerky on the Eastern Shore with the largest selection? Neither did I until the other day when I stopped by the Chincoteague Island House of Jerky on Maddox Blvd and spoke to the owner Denise & John McMillan. They opened in 2017 and business is going great. I have stopped by their location a few times and of course them participating in the Death by Chocolate and Search for the Shamrock weekends has given me a taste of some their tasty offerings. Denise showed me around her store and I was so impressed with the different varieties of jerky that available now. Beef jerky is still their most popular, but there is jerky for just about every type of animal including some of the more exotic animals like python, kangaroo, camel, etc. For the vegan and vegetarian visitors to the island, she has jerky for you as well, both in fruit and vegetable varieties. She carries mushroom jerky in six different flavors along with four differen

A little housekeeping and reminder on why I am doing this blog

Good Morning Everyone, I am trying to get myself ahead of these blogs, but it doesn't seem to be happening the way I would like it. The nice weather and research has kept me out of the house this week and now I am getting ready for vacation. I will have two blogs scheduled for while I am away plus one for today and then when I come back it is full steam ahead to bring you All Things Food on Chincoteague Island VA. I am so happy this blog is growing and you are enjoying it. It is my full intention of this blog to bring you the answers to the questions you have about each of the restaurants and food trucks here on Chincoteague and the surrounding areas. Once I have completed each of them, I will be going back again and will keep this blog updated, maybe doing a few interviews on video with the owners and managers. I honestly don't know yet, but it will keep on going. I made the promise that I would not speak badly about anyone on this island, so yes if this sounds like I am cheer

Pico Taqueria

Welcome back for another blog about All Things Food on Chincoteague Island, VA. Well we are officially in our busy season and the island has come back to life with visitors, tourists and locals headed out to eat some of the best food ever on our beautiful island paradise.  Chincoteague has so many options for food but this week's post is one that is near and dear to my heart. When my friend Carmen and I started becoming regular visitors for the day in 2015 this food truck, now takeout restaurant was our go to, because from the first bite we fell in love. Our day trips to Chincoteague consisted of all day at the beach, early dinner at Pico Taqueria (to beat the dinner rush) and Island Creamery ice cream as we watched the sunset from Don Leonard Park and then it was back home to Seaford, DE until the next trip (usually the following week or two). This was our routine every trip without fail.  Pico Taqueria opened in the spring of 2015 as a food truck on Maddox Blvd and their populari
