A little housekeeping and reminder on why I am doing this blog


Good Morning Everyone, I am trying to get myself ahead of these blogs, but it doesn't seem to be happening the way I would like it. The nice weather and research has kept me out of the house this week and now I am getting ready for vacation. I will have two blogs scheduled for while I am away plus one for today and then when I come back it is full steam ahead to bring you All Things Food on Chincoteague Island VA. I am so happy this blog is growing and you are enjoying it. It is my full intention of this blog to bring you the answers to the questions you have about each of the restaurants and food trucks here on Chincoteague and the surrounding areas. Once I have completed each of them, I will be going back again and will keep this blog updated, maybe doing a few interviews on video with the owners and managers. I honestly don't know yet, but it will keep on going.

I made the promise that I would not speak badly about anyone on this island, so yes if this sounds like I am cheerleading for these restaurants and food trucks, I am. I am here to educate and bring business to these amazing businesses.

Just a few summer tips for dining on Chincoteague.

1. If a restaurant accepts reservations MAKE THEM far in advance. Do not wait until you are on the island and get disappointed because they can't seat you on the night you want or they tell you there is a one to two hour wait.

2. Please be patient with everyone. We are still struggling to get workers for the businesses and with summer season upon us, they are busy and shorthanded.

3. Please tip your servers, bartenders and takeout orders. It is greatly appreciated and helpful to our employees.

4. Please be kind, we want to make sure your dining experience is the best and kindness back is greatly appreciated. 

5. If you can't afford to pay for it don't order or eat it. In other words, DO NOT skip out on paying the restaurant for your meals and drinks.

6. Enjoy yourself, you are on vacation and now is the time to sit back relax and unwind.

I can't believe I am doing this

 Hi everyone, I have never created a blog before, but I have felt called to do this one. I started coming to Chincoteague in 1982 when my parents bought a place at Trails End. I hate to admit this, but the 17 year old me did not instantly fall in love with Chincoteague. I was eaten alive by the mosquitoes and attacked by the green headed flies. One thing that I always did love about Chincoteague was the dining. Oh I remember the Landmark Restaurant and Skippers All You Can Eat Seafood Buffet (I think they hated to see my family coming in the door). Island Creamery when it was Mr. Chocolates and their amazing ice cream and homemade waffle cones, oh and don't forget their fudge. Oh I remember all of the flavors. My dad loved to grab an oyster sandwich at the carnival or a bowl of New England clam chowder from Etta's (when it was where Mr. Baldy's is now). Oh those were the best days. Whiteraven's Nest and Whiteraven's Outpost

HI everyone, thank you again for your amazing support. I truly appreciate it and hope you enjoy this blog as much as I am going to enjoy sharing dining information here on Chincoteague and some of our surrounding areas. Pico Taqueria

Welcome back for another blog about All Things Food on Chincoteague Island, VA. Well we are officially in our busy season and the island has come back to life with visitors, tourists and locals headed out to eat some of the best food ever on our beautiful island paradise.  Chincoteague has so many options for food but this week's post is one that is near and dear to my heart. When my friend Carmen and I started becoming regular visitors for the day in 2015 this food truck, now takeout restaurant was our go to, because from the first bite we fell in love. Our day trips to Chincoteague consisted of all day at the beach, early dinner at Pico Taqueria (to beat the dinner rush) and Island Creamery ice cream as we watched the sunset from Don Leonard Park and then it was back home to Seaford, DE until the next trip (usually the following week or two).
