Sea Star Cafe

Welcome back once again, I am having a blast going out and about in Chincoteague and eating some of the best food ever. I absolutely love living in this area and having so many dining choices where the food is always amazing. This post I am featuring a favorite for so many, Sea Star CafĂ©.  This sweet gem just opened for the season and I was right there when they took the chain off the stairs to start their season. They are open Thursday thru Sunday from 11am to 6pm. They are seasonal and they usually are open from April until November. Brian & Mercer have created one of the best gourmet sandwich shops on the East Coast. Their love for their customers and their business shows in the amazing food that they serve. They have an ALL are welcome attitude and they love everyone. Their fresh baked breads, brownies, teas and cookies are so good and full of flavor, you will be glad you stopped in. Their sandwiches, wraps and salads are made to order and are fresh and delicious. They also...

Beach Road Round-Up

Good Afternoon Everyone and welcome back to another edition for All Things Food on Chincoteague Island. Today we are going to talk about one of my favorite places to enjoy a homecooked breakfast or lunch and that is Beach Road Round-Up. From the time you walk in the door until you walk back out to leave you are welcomed, loved on and fed some of the best breakfast or lunch foods around. David & Connie have established a restaurant that you can taste love in every bite you take. Becky your server is one of the sweetest people, always smiling and very helpful with figuring out what to eat. They make everything to order, there is no pre-prepping of your meal at all, but trust me it is worth the wait. They are known for their burgers and cheesesteaks and they are some of the best in town. They are the reigning champions for the Guru's Best Burger Contest. During soup season Connie makes the best soups and they are always fresh and homemade. She also has a secret sauce you can use o...

B.Y.O.C. (Build Your Own Cookie)

Image
Hi Chincoteague Foodies and welcome back to another blog about All Things Food in Chincoteague Island. I hope you are enjoying these posts as much as I am posting them and of course venturing out into the dining scene here in Chincoteague. Over the weekend I had the pleasure of stopping by B.Y.O.C. (Build Your Own Cookie) and can we say heaven in a bowl. Imagine a hot homemade cookie of your choice topped with your choice of Hershey's ice cream and that is topped with a variety of different options. I opted for a chocolate chip cookie, with moose tracks ice cream, topped with hot fudge and M&M's and of course whipped cream and a cherry. It was so good and very filling, so make sure you have plenty of room in your belly or share with a friend.  Wendy and her team are so sweet and friendly, I felt like a celebrity there lol. I truly enjoyed meeting them and talking about their truck and business. Right now they are open Friday, Saturday & Sundays 1pm to 10pm and will be a...

Ray's Shanty Seafood Restaurant & Market

Image
Welcome back to All Things Food in Chincoteague, Va. When making that left or right hand turn off of Route 13 have you ever noticed the green metal building on the left hand side? If you haven't pay attention next time, because that is the home of Ray's Shanty. Ray's opened their doors to the restaurant on May 21, 1986 and they have been in business ever since. The past two seasons have been rough because of the pandemic, but after what I saw today, they are back and business is booming. As you enter the restaurant you are greeted with everything Eastern Shore, old oyster cans, duck decoys and of course the southern hospitality of a wonderful staff. As you dine you will see both Laura and Ray walking around and chatting with their guests. The food is so good and fresh here, I ordered the trawler and it was 2lbs of shrimp (you could do heads on or off) I picked off, but Ray came by and said no you need to try the heads on, so they brought us a single heads on shrimp to try a...
