Whiteraven's Nest and Whiteraven's Outpost

HI everyone, thank you again for your amazing support. I truly appreciate it and hope you enjoy this blog as much as I am going to enjoy sharing dining information here on Chincoteague and some of our surrounding areas.

I am still trying to figure this out, so bare with me. I want to share as much information with you as possible as well as some pictures of the locations.

My first visit was to Whiteraven's Nest and Whiteraven's Outpost. I was going to do separate posts, but these two businesses are owned by the Landon family and go hand in hand.

Whiteraven's Nest is the Farmer's Market part of the business and Whiteraven's Outpost is their food truck. Everything that is served on their food truck can be purchased right from their market, even their pickles, mustards and cheeses. Whiteraven's Outpost is home of the "build your own burger" and you can build it anyway you want or as high as you want. 

Hours: Whiteraven's Nest is open daily from 10am to 6pm during the summer and days will be                            eliminated as the season slows down.

            Whiteraven's Outpost is open Thursday to Monday from 11am to 6pm

They are closed from Christmas Eve to mid February.

Whiteraven's Outpost:

Do they offer vegetarian or vegan meals? No, but occasionally they will have salads.

Do they offer gluten free or low carb meals? All their sandwiches can be ordered without a roll (that's how I always get them).

Do they use peanut oil? No peanut oil is used, the only thing fried in oil is their crab cakes and soft shell crabs.

Do they offer delivery? No.

Do they offer take out? Yes  it is a food truck and you can can call ahead.

Do they offer curbside pick up? Yes

Do they have handicap parking? Yes

Do they have handicap entrance? It is all open air & walk up.

Do they offer daily specials? Yes. 

Do they offer Military Discounts? Yes

Do they offer Senior Citizen Discounts? No

Do they have a loyalty program? No

Do they offer a Kids Menu? They do offer all beef hot dogs.

Do they offer outdoor dining? Yes, under the pine trees and while sitting there you will be entertained by their resident goats Crimson, Clover and Tommy James (TJ). They are so sweet, but they will beg  you to feed them, so bring your quarters for the food their dispenser.

What are they most famous for dish wise? They are the home of the "Build Your Own Burger" and they have 10 different meats to choose from including ground beef, chicken, turkey, pork, venison, bison, wild boar, lamb and goat.

What is my personal favorite menu item? I love the venison and the bison burgers. Their sauces to go on the burgers are incredible and the cheese selection is amazing.

Do they have a loyalty program? No

What are they most famous for? They offer the freshest fruits, vegetables, seafood and meats around. They have a large selection of plants for your own gardens, cheeses, teas, mini Smith Island Cakes, Ugly Pies from the Ugly Pie Co in Salisbury, and the best ginger snap cookies I have ever had. This is the place to go if you are camping at one of the many campgrounds or renting a house to grab your meats and produce for your visit.

What is my personal favorite here is the fact that Kim and Burke were complete strangers to me when I first moved here, I had never been to their store off the island before and through their business and my sweet little dog an amazing friendship has bloomed and I am so grateful to have them here on this island.

    We love a good burger and do alot of cooking when on the island so will definitely make a visit to the food truck and market.

What would you like to know?

 Good morning everyone, Thank you all for the reassurance for me to do this. Again, I am not a food critic at all, I just love food. I am excited to start this journey with you as we explore the dining options here on Chincoteague and what each establishment has to offer us. I have added the "FOLLOW" gadget to the blog for anyone that wants to follow me. Again this is all new to me and I had to Google how to do that....lol. But hopefully I did it right and you can follow me around Chincoteague as I go place by place and answer some important questions that you might have about dining in Chincoteague. I created this questionnaire that I will take to each restaurant/food truck and complete it and type a blog up for each restaurant. I can't believe I am doing this

 Hi everyone, I have never created a blog before, but I have felt called to do this one. I started coming to Chincoteague in 1982 when my parents bought a place at Trails End. I hate to admit this, but the 17 year old me did not instantly fall in love with Chincoteague. I was eaten alive by the mosquitoes and attacked by the green headed flies. One thing that I always did love about Chincoteague was the dining. Oh I remember the Landmark Restaurant and Skippers All You Can Eat Seafood Buffet (I think they hated to see my family coming in the door). Island Creamery when it was Mr. Chocolates and their amazing ice cream and homemade waffle cones, oh and don't forget their fudge. Oh I remember all of the flavors. My dad loved to grab an oyster sandwich at the carnival or a bowl of New England clam chowder from Etta's (when it was where Mr. Baldy's is now). Oh those were the best days.
